Runner-up prizes are also up for grabs. Winning designs will appear in the magazine, both print and digital, and promoted online.
TO QUALIFY: Entries should be 8%u2033 x 10.75%u2033 in size, MUST use the Rue Morgue logo (downloadable from rue-morgue.com/contests/RMlogo.jpg) and will be judged by Rue Morgue Art Director Ghoulish Gary Pullin for:
- ORIGINALITY (fresh ideas and innovation)
- COMPOSITION (relationship of type vs. image)
- IMPACT (execution and quality of the overall design)
- PRESENTATION (must be presented clean and neatly, flat or on a small easel).
Original illustrations and photographs encouraged. Designers using movie stills (e.g. Pinhead, Leatherface, etc.) must use an illustration or treat the photo.
Contest is only open to Texas Frightmare Weekend attendees, guests and vendors. Entries accepted at the Rue Morgue booth at Texas Frightmare Weekend until noon on SUNDAY, MAY 1, 2011. Winners will be announced later that day at 2 p.m.

STEPHEN ROMANO is an a illustrator, designer, screenwriter and print author. His short stories, novels and comic books have garnered critical acclaim from some of the most respected authors and media sources in the world. As a screenwriter, Romano is most well-known for his bold adaptation of Joe R. Lansdale's INCIDENT ON AND OFF A MOUNTAIN ROAD for Showtime's Emmy Award-winning MASTERS OF HORROR cable series, directed by fellow TFW 2011 guest Don Coscarelli of PHANTASM and BUBBA HO-TEP fame.
Romano also co-wrote the as-yet-unproduced sequel to BUBBA HO-TEP. Romano's well-documented passion for sleaze cinema and exploitation film culminated in the ground-breaking illustrated novel SHOCK FESTIVAL. The book turned heads in 2008-2009, and placed Romano highly in demand as an accomplished visual stylist in the mode of exploitation film art. Since the book's release, Romano has designed film campaigns for theatrical releases, DVD covers and promotional artwork. He continues to hit hard with new film projects, comics, and novels, all of which reflect his uncompromising attitude and innovative approach to the genres. 
Tattooing for over 10 years, Shaun Kama has found his niche in the tattoo world. His personal tastes as a tattoo artist lead him to the dark and macabre, which led to his reputation as the king of Halloween Tattoos. Shaun's work is dark and edgy, with incredible detail and vibrant color. He is also skilled in single needle black and grey work, through
working alongside Mark Mahoney and Bob Vessels. His artistic influences include
Normal Rockwell, Salvador Dali, Boris Vallejo, Bernie Wrightson, Ralph Steadman
and Frank Frazetta. He describes himself as a 'Jack of All Trades with personalization
to the tastes of his clients'. Shaun also regularly paints, working in acrylics, oils and
watercolors. He can often be found doing a variety of commissioned artworks for his
clients, and his paintings can be seen at a variety of art events throughout the year.
Shaun will be at Texas Frightmare Weekend set up beside Rock Rebel and has begun scheduling appointments for Texas Frightmare Weekend. Interested parties should contact him at halloweentattoos@aol.com to secure a time slot. He will also be available for walk-in tattoos, as time permits.
